Our story
Serving You Since 1964
Charles L. Wynne and Joyce K. Ogle founded Chesapeake Fence & Awning as partners and longtime residents of Great Bridge in Chesapeake, VA. We have been at our current location since the 1960’s and the building and property were upgraded to present day operations in 1986. After 20+ years of dedicated ownership Mrs. Ogle, of blessed memory, retired. Her son, Cecil E. Lewis became business partners with Mr. Wynne. After 25 years of dedicated ownership Mr. Wynne, of blessed memory, retired. His daughter, Sharon W. Shanker, and son in law, Phillip S. Shanker became Mr. Lewis’ business partners.

Community Involvement
Chesapeake Fence and Awning Co. is dedicated to improving our local community. We have supplied materials for charitable projects and are always looking for new opportunities to improve our neighborhood. In the past, we have worked with The Boy Scouts of America as well as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, among others.
Manufacturing
Facility and Products
Our manufacturing facility offers a fully equipped wood and weld shop to custom build fence panels and gates. We stock western red cedar boards, salt treated pine boards, and salt treated pine posts and runners. Additionally we offer a full line of chain link fence wire, posts, gates, and fittings on hand at our store. We stock polyvinyl railing systems for your porch railing needs and are the premier local distributor for polyvinyl fence systems and Jerith aluminum fences in the area. Materials from these manufacturers are ordered on a per job basis.
